Derbyshire-based Gill and Tim Wallis approached Creative Interiors in spring 2021, after deciding that the two bathrooms in their converted chapel were in need of a refresh. Having lived in their characterful home for over 24 years, they came to Creative Interiors looking for complete overhaul of their spaces, tasking our design team to create two bathrooms that were both beautiful and functional. Now that the renovation is complete, we caught up with Gill and Tim to have a look around their new bathrooms and find out how they found the renovation experience.

Tell us about your house project. Why did you decide to renovate?

We’ve updated the bathrooms in the past, but they’ve never had a full refurb. They were tired and we wanted our own design and bespoke fit now, and with teenagers at home, the shower gets a lot of use!

We have a very large bathroom and as we had the space, we wanted to make use of our space and add a second sink, as well as more storage. We had a free-standing cupboard which didn’t offer much storage space and it was difficult to keep our everyday essentials organised. Our small shower room looked tired too and it was difficult to dry off or change because the space was so poorly used, the shower was too small and the sink and toilet were too low.

How did you hear about Creative Interiors and why did you choose us for your bathroom renovations?

A friend of mine had her bathrooms and kitchen designed and installed by Creative Interiors and she recommended you. When I described what I wanted to achieve in our space, the design team listened to me and also offered innovative ideas that took my ideas even further.

What was the planning process like for you?

During the planning process with the Creative Interiors team, the designs moved toward a much more modern feel, with a contemporary wow factor and innovations that we hadn’t thought were possible! My original vision and goals for the space were met with so many clever and cutting-edge features, such as the lights that come on when you enter the room during the night, giving a gentle glow of light to see where you’re going without disturbing your sleep.

What was the best part of the renovation process?

Our installer was brilliant. He was a perfectionist when it came to the install, and he also pragmatically installed some supporting joists that he uncovered had been teetering on bricks! He made sure the work was completed to a high quality and left us with a beautiful, functioning bathroom at the end of the day.

What aspect of your new bathrooms do you like the most?

We love the Herringbone patterned tile feature wall in the shower and its bespoke blue colour. It’s a shade of Greek blue and runs across the bath, towel rail and sink base. It’s warm and perfect. We also love the new layout in the bathroom, it seems a lot larger and you have plenty of space to dry off.

Are there any new features in your new bathrooms that you didn’t have before?

Lots! We introduced the night lighting, steam-free mirrors, higher toilets, underfloor heating, and capacious drawers, so we can see what we have.

Would you recommend Creative Interiors? If so, why?

Yes, I would absolutely recommend Creative Interiors. The bathrooms feel very glamorous and our sons like the shower room as they’re 6ft tall so it’s now fit for purpose. Practicality is always the bottom line, after all! The renovation was completed to a very high standard and they left the space spotless.
